"Wanted 4' 10-2 wire for hot water tank. Heath OH Store informed me Baltimore OH Store would cut-to-length. Called Baltimore and they verified. Went to store and they DO NOT cut-to-length this wire. Spent one-hour road time and came home empty... Both stores are owned as same."

"Called Home Depot to see if they had a spark plug for Ariens snowblower I bought there 5 years ago. The person I talked to in L&G obviously had no clue. He acted like he was looking up something and then just said he didn't have it. I asked about equivalent and that threw him for a loop. Said immediately he didn't have it. Had a similar experience looking at refrigerators in the summer. The customer service people knew nothing about the refrigerators and all the floor displays were filthy with some that had doors that squeaked when opened. I went to Lowes. They knew the products."
CRIMP SLEEVE CHART FOR MONO* & FLUOROCARBON Fishing Line copper / aluminum / brass 0.8 / 40-60lb 1.2 / 80-100lb 1.5 / 125-150lb 1.7 / 200lb 2.0 / 250-300lb 2.3 / 400lb plus 2.8 / 500lb plus *one point is all 200lb mono do not have the same diameter, for example, 200lb Jinkai mono has 1.33mm compared to my chart above which notes 200lb is 1.7mm - so pay attention to packaging details
The black double barrel crimp was made for wire, but can also be used for mono or fluorocarbon. The aluminum oval crimps are only for Mono or fluorocarbon and shape the plastic line inside the crimp differently. My thinking is aluminum crimps are better for plastic lines.
Going to start crimping leaders for July trip, and have never tried it before...what size crimps go with what test mono/ fluorocarbon and what size holes on...
When you crimp the sleeve the sleeve will elongate. The elongation has to go somewhere.Leaving the mono tight around the eye of the hook places tremendous strain on the mono. Creating the dreaded crotch break. Properly crimped lines will always out test perfect knots. Most improperly crimped connections will out test knots as well.
With the Toit tool I can now crimp Knot 2 Kinky Titanium in 25# as well as the stealthier 31# stainless wire. The Toit will probably work with all wahoo wire rigging, but I only tested 25# and 35# titanium and 31# Single strand stainless. I have a knot, wind-on, and line testing machine and have posted my results here many times over the years.
How do you crimp the larger size wires? Most crimpers sold at stores are only up to 10 awg. The big crimpers are usually very big and expensive. I just need to crimp one 6 gauge ring terminal. How should I go about this without having to buy a...
Crimp the other end of the crimp, rotate 180 and crimp the middle. Rinse and repeat the same steps on the other side of the leader using the swivel instead of the split ring.
However, in my tests, the crimped connections I'd been doing only averaged about 80-90% of rated strength. Typically, I’d over crimp and the line stretches and then breaks inside the crimp. Intentionally trying to compensate only produced weaker crimps. The tolerances that produce a perfect 100% crimp are very small. How small?
crimp: jinkai g line: 200lb diamond fluorocarbon windon first is a clean single crimp with minimal flare, second is a first crimp closest to the hook and then another overlapped crimp. I feel like the first one is better because it’s one crimp but the second is better because it’s covering more surface and has a better flare.
